Want to horse around?
..without a run around?
Want out of the hassle of the city, but still live within a reasonable distance?
Step out your back door and horseback ride, hike, bike, explore off-road, bird watch or star gaze. Enjoy the warmth of the summer sun in the winter, in Borrego Springs, less than 13 miles away. Stay cool in the summer in Ranchita, with its cooling winds, at an elevation of 4,000 feet. Ranchita is just a little over an hour’s drive from San Diego city limits, Escondido and Temecula. Ranchita’s closest "big city" is Ramona, with closer services at Borrego Springs, Santa Ysabel and Warner Springs. Ranchita, as rural as rural can be, brags of a volunteer fire department, a small-town grocery store and not one stop light or stop sign! Take a short weekend drive and discover rural Ranchita - a great place to live, a great place to retire, and a GREAT place to have horses!
Rural Ranchita is high desert at its best, surrounded on all four sides by public property, never to be developed. To the east, Ranchita borders the 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. To the north and south is BLM (Federal Bureau of Land Management) land, including the San Ysidro Wilderness Study Area and the San Felipe Valley Wilderness Area. To the west, stretching all the way to Lake Henshaw is watershed owned by the Vista Irrigation District. The Pacific Crest Trail, spanning from South America to Canada, can be accessed from a trail-head at the west end of town.
DISCOVER RANCHITA and save thousands of dollars! Improved real estate in rural Ranchita is thousands of dollars less than comparable real estate in most areas of San Diego County.
Save thousands in principle and interest or, better yet, maybe you can sell what you’ve got, buy outright and enjoy life in San Diego County with no mortgage payment!
It’s the perfect “grandparent distance”. Close enough for weekends, but too far for daily drop-offs.
Current plans from San Diego County Planning have Ranchita staying relatively the same for many years!
